International Peace Park

The trees opened up along the trail to Bertha Falls and this was the spectacular view! That is the Prince of Wales historic hotel on the plateau overlooking the valley in Waterton Lakes National Park in Canada, just over the border of Montana.

This beautiful waterfall is along side the hiking trail just about half way to Bertha Lake in Waterton. It's from here that the journey starts to get more steep.

Bertha Lake

Nine mile round trip hike to this gem in Waterton Lakes National Park. We stopped to eat lunch and experienced both a cool wind and warm sunshine in early fall.

When the wind picks up, you can take shelter in the trees that line this high mountain lake in Waterton.

Peaceful Destination

I'd say Bertha Lake is both a rugged and peaceful destination. Well worth the 4.5 mile trek (nine miles round trip).

Make Your Presence Known

When hiking through dense brush like this on the trail to Bertha Lake, it's a good idea to sing, talk loudly, whistle, etc so wildlife knows you are there.
